Our Founders
Qetelo Mpelane – Founder
Qetelo’s journey is deeply rooted in the heritage and landscapes of Lesotho. Born into a family with a rich horse racing tradition, He grew up surrounded by the rhythms of rural life and the beauty of the Maloti Mountains. His passion for sharing Lesotho’s culture and natural wonders began early, when he worked as a horse riding tour guide in Fouriesburg, South Africa, for a Dutch family. This experience ignited his love for tourism and connecting people to the land.
After completing an Associate Degree in International Tourism at the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Qetelo founded Skygate with a mission to showcase the authentic spirit of Lesotho. Alongside running the company, he sold traditional Basotho handicrafts made of clay and grass, further immersing himself in the cultural heritage of his homeland. His diverse experience in the hospitality industry – working at the front desk, bar, pantry, and kitchen, as well as guiding guests to local attractions – gave him a well-rounded understanding of what it takes to create unforgettable experiences.
Seqo Matlanyane – Co-Founder
Seqo Joined Skygate during a pivotal time, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that revitalized the company. A construction management consultant by profession and a passionate photographer, Seqo’s true passion lies in travel and cultural exchange. His extensive journeys across Lesotho, South Africa, Kenya, Eswatini, and other African countries have given him a deep appreciation for the diversity and richness of African cultures.
Seqo’s expertise in business development and event organisation has been instrumental in shaping Skygate into the thriving enterprise it is today. His ability to connect with people, coupled with his strategic vision, has helped the company grow while staying true to its mission of sharing Lesotho heritage. Seqo’s love for travel and his commitment to sustainable tourism continue to inspire Skygate’s innovative tours and community-focused initiatives.
Together, Qetelo and Seqo form a dynamic duo, blending their unique skills and shared passion for Lesotho to create transformative travel experiences that celebrate the kingdom’s culture, landscape, and people.

Supporting Local Communities
Skygate is committed to empowering local communities in Lesotho through sustainable initiatives focused on education, sports, and environmental conservation.
Cycling Events and Pump Track Races
We organize pump track races at Sepheo Motimposo and Roma Trading Post, uniting communities and showcasing local talent. These events promote youth engagement in sports, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles. Additionally, we host cycling events for children under twelve in Lithabaneng, Maseru, fostering community spirit and active living.
Nature Conservation in Quthing District
In collaboration with Moorosi Chalets, we engaged in a bird-feeding program to protect local wildlife and raise environmental awareness, preserving the area’s natural beauty.
Upcoming Project: Likhahleng Trust in Botha-Bothe
Skygate plans to establish a trust in Likhahleng, renovating a pre-school and mealie meal grinder building into an educational hub. This will include a primary school, secondary school, and vocational school, providing foundational education and practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
